Description of the project:
This project is related to the elaboration of the technology to obtain bisphenol A on industrial scale, with the capacity at least 100 thousand t/y. Within the project, it is planned to optimize the node for condensation of phenol with acetone in the presence of modified ionic catalysts, as well as to elaborate effective method of stabilization for phenolic streams, which will allow to separate BPA with use of distillation. In the next step, the crude bisphenol A will be purified with the use of fractional crystallization method. Optimization studies of BPA synthesis section will be carried out in the range of the selectivity of condensation reaction of phenol with the use of acetone and the composition of concentrated postreaction mixture. The scope of research works will be also the purification of crude bisphenol A with the use of melting crystallization method, in different variations - with and without turn of reflux from fractional crystallization. On the basis of results obtained on laboratory scale, the optimization of system for separation and purification of p,p’-BPA isomer will be carried out on pilot-plant scale. It will allow to elaborate new technology to obtain BPA.
The elaborated conception will be verified with small scale production, and based on the results, the foredesigns for process design of BPA plant with capacity of 100 thousand t/y will be elaborated.
