We are pleased to announce a new doctoral degree at the institute – it was awarded to Marcin Muszynski from the Chemical Processes and Technologies Research Group.
The goal of this PhD was to develop a method for the chemical depolymerization of waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) using selected alcohols in order to develop an alternative method for obtaining terephthalic plasticizers. PET is extremely widespread (mainly in the form of plastic beverage bottles), so the amount of waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) is also very significant. The work done as part of the Ph.D. can contribute to reducing this amount.
The doctoral studies were carried out as part of an implementation doctorate at the School of Doctoral Studies at the Silesian University of Technology.
