Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia”
Project Objective:
The goal of the “Łukasiewicz’s Magic of Light” project is to popularize chemistry as a science among preschool and school-age children. The project’s initiatives are designed to help children understand basic chemical concepts in a way that is easy and accessible to them, and to introduce them to Ignacy Łukasiewicz—an outstanding Polish chemist, pharmacist, entrepreneur, inventor of the kerosene lamp, and pioneer of the oil industry.
The main activity of the project is the organization of a series of popular science and educational chemistry demonstrations, presented in an original, unique format, at 12 educational institutions in the Opole and Silesian provinces. The estimated number of project participants is 1,200 people. In addition, at least 10 educational videos will be published online for open access, and a unique popular science event is planned to be held at the Łukasiewicz – ICSO “Blachownia” headquarters upon the project’s completion. The project will result in the introduction of a new commercial service to the offerings of Łukasiewicz – ICSO “Blachownia”—the organization of popular science workshops, chemistry-themed birthday parties, workshops for schools, and more.
