The Effect of Selected Physicochemical Properties of Food-Contact Packaging Materials on the Efficiency of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Isolation

The Effect of Selected Physicochemical Properties of Food-Contact Packaging Materials on the Efficiency of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Isolation

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES UNDER THE MINIATURA 10 PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTER

Beneficiary Name: Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Renewable Resources Chemistry

Grant Agreement No.: DEC-2026/10/X/ST4/01040

Project value: 49 478,00 zł

Funding amount: 49 478,00 zł

Implementation Period: 14.10.2026 – 13.10.2027

Project aim:

To determine whether selected physicochemical properties of packaging materials—including the chemical nature of the matrix, surface hydrophobicity, morphological structure, and thermal properties—affect the effectiveness of PFAS isolation for compounds with varying chemical structures. The study will assess whether the observed differences in the recovery of specific PFAS groups are related to the properties of packaging materials and identify matrix characteristics relevant to the design of future studies on PFAS isolation.
