Equipment:
The Institute has a wide range of chemical equipment larger than a typical laboratory scale (up to 300 L), enabling the production and processing of substances on a larger scale, also as commissioned services.
We offer our services in carrying processes of:
- chemical reactions
- crystallization
- distillation
- concentration
- filtration
- other, similar operations
The services can be performed according to a procedure provided by the client or can be preceded by selection of process conditions by our institute. During such services product analysis and analytical process control can be performed by qualified stuff and existing analytical equipment.

Chemical reactions can be performed in continuous or periodic mode, in liquid or gas phase in reactors with broad range of pressures and temperatures.
- in periodic mode in range:
- volumes from 0,48 L to 175 L,
- temperature to 350°C
- pressure from vacuum to 200 bar
- in continous mode in range:
- reactor volumes from 0,03 L to 100 L
- temperature to 500°C
- pressure to 300 bar
- feed flow from 100 mL/h to 2 L/h
Reactors and mixers are resistant to corrosive chemicals – they are made from materials like titan, hastelloy, stainless steel (304, 316L ) or enameled, depending on specific apparatus.
Raw materials in form of liquids, gases or solids can be fed in continuous manner to reactors.
Reactions/processes can be carried out using heterogeneous catalysts (e.g. ion exchange resins or solid supported catalysts). For that purpose, we also offer (comprehensively) the possibility of on-site production of solid catalysts, including the form of extrudates, modified ion exchange catalysts, etc. We offer research on the kinetics of homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, also doing research on the performance characteristics of heterogeneous catalysts, such as deactivation and lifetime.
Mixing and processes related to the use of solids, i.e. the production of suspensions, dissolution or leaching (extraction from a solid) in a batchwise manner is available with use of our mixers with capacities from 0.5 L to 175 L.
We offer crystallization, including:
- suspension crystallization from solutions in a periodic or continuous manner. Crystallization units are available from 15 to 330 L and can be operated at temperatures up to 150°C and 3 bar
- melt crystallization in a tubular crystallizer conducted periodically or continuously, available feed flow rates up to 60 L/h, crystallization temperature up to 220°C
We offer filtration processes:
- periodic filtration on a filtration nutsch with volume of 15 L of suspension per batch, equipped also with vacuum pump, what also allows for conducting tests for filtration fabric selection
- periodic or continuous filtration on a pressure drum filter, with feed flow up to 30 L/h. On the filter can be done:
- filtration with nitrogen blanket,
- filtration with filtration cake washing
- conduct test on filtration conditions selection
Distillation and Rectification
Distillation is the separation of a liquid multi-component mixture by evaporating and then condensing its components. The Institute can conduct distillation and rectification processes in a periodic or semi-continuous manner at normal pressure and under vacuum conditions. Using the many years of experience of the research team, we can easily achieve the best efficiency and effectiveness of the industrial distillation process. Thanks to the high heating capacity and a wide range of available volumes from 2 to 175 L, we ensure extremely fast and effective distillation. We also use various column fillings, such as: Raschig rings, Pall rings, structural filling.
The twin screw extruder
Thanks to the possession of the production line based on twin screw extruder with screws diameter of 24 mm, 40 L/D ratio, equipped with 10 cooling/heating zones, vacuum system and granulator (supplied by two Brabender gravimetric feeders: one for polymer granules and the other for powdery raw materials, the later combined with side stuffer) we offer:
- research-development services,
- manufacturing of thermoplastics application batches.
This line enables to manufacture plastics with stable and strictly controlled composition, with maximum filling degree above 50%. Its highest capacity, dependent on type and composition of the plastic, is situated between 7-12 kg/h. On the demand of the client the quality certifications done according to the accepted criteria and analytical methods can be delivered with the manufactured plastic batches.
