Technology for the production of bisphenol A (BPA) that meets the requirements of polycarbonate producers using the non-phosgene method

Technology description:

ISOBIS is a modern technology that allows to obtain ultra-pure bisphenol A (BPA) characterized by exceptionally high thermal stability. It was confirmed in a model plant that it is possible to obtain a product corresponding to spectrally pure reagents on an industrial scale. The product quality achieved with the ISOBIS technology is very important in the processing of BPA by the phosphosgene-free method for polycarbonates with high molecular weights - it is an innovation on a global scale.

Currently, structural polycarbonates are produced by the phosgene method, but the characteristic feature of this method is the presence of unreacted BPA in the material (it has a mutagenic effect). Extending the range of molecular weights of polycarbonates produced by the non-phosgene method will expand the range of products made of these plastics and increase consumer safety.

ISOBIS is a technological process that also guarantees BPA of the quality required for the phosgene-free production of colorless polycarbonates for optical applications and for epoxy resins used in electronics. It is characterized by a stable color even at high temperatures (above 200 ° C), which means that it does not darken during processing to polycarbonates.

ISOBIS is a technology that ensures low cost of BPA production. Technical solutions used in all technological units have been optimized in terms of reducing operating costs, thanks to which the process is characterized by competitive rates of raw material consumption per 1 ton of BPA and low media consumption. The process does not generate waste, so it does not pose a threat to the environment. High-tech technical solutions were used, including fractionated crystallization.
