Technology characteristics:

The manufacturing process of silane-crosslinked polyethylene plastics is mainly carried out in an extruder and consists of the following stages:

  • grafting of vinyl-silane components onto the polymer in the presence of organic peroxide,
  • introduction of a crosslinking catalyst into the resulting intermediate product,
  • shaping of the product,
  • cross-linking of the product in the presence of water or steam.

The capacity of a typical production line ranges from 50 to 300 kg/hour.

Product application:

Process for manufacturing cross-linked polyethylene plastic products, especially insulation for medium voltage cables and hot water pipes used in underfloor heating systems.
