Silane cross-linked polymer production process
Technology characteristics:
The manufacturing process of silane-crosslinked polyethylene plastics is mainly carried out in an extruder and consists of the following stages:
- grafting of vinyl-silane components onto the polymer in the presence of organic peroxide,
- introduction of a crosslinking catalyst into the resulting intermediate product,
- shaping of the product,
- cross-linking of the product in the presence of water or steam.
The capacity of a typical production line ranges from 50 to 300 kg/hour.
Product application:
Process for manufacturing cross-linked polyethylene plastic products, especially insulation for medium voltage cables and hot water pipes used in underfloor heating systems.
