Thermal insulation materials based on alternative raw materials for modular construction applications – targeted project

PROJECT CO-FINANCED FROM THE STATE BUDGET

Acronym: (PB) EVOTERM

Beneficiary Name: Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia”

Grant Agreement No.: 1/Ł-ICSO/CŁ/2022

Project value: 2 277 610,38 zł

Grant amount: 2 049 849,34 zł

Project period: 01.10.2022 – 31.03.2025

The project is being carried out as part of a consortium:

Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia”

Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Electrical Engineering

Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials

Project Objective:

The project involves the development of a method and the production of modern insulation materials in the form of flame-retardant polyurethane foams made from renewable or recycled raw materials. The developed material will be used in modular construction for the thermal insulation of walls and roofs in newly constructed buildings. The project focuses on new, economically sustainable technologies for modular construction, including the diversification of the raw material base for polyurethane production. A key element of the project is lightweight thermal insulation based on polyurethane foams, which, among the available insulation materials—such as expanded polystyrene (EPS), mineral wool, or cellulose, demonstrate the best properties in terms of thermal and acoustic insulation.
