Lukasiewicz's Magic of Light
We have prepared six experience-diverse thematic programs for children. Each of them conveys a condensed dose of knowledge, but in a formula accessible for the youngest. The individual variants have been prepared so that the workshops do not last longer than one lesson hour.
As a result, we conduct workshops without major schedule changes, both for the children themselves and for you. Your kids, on the other hand, gain a more varied activity. During the presentation they will learn something about the world around them in a different, more practical way.
Our mission is to popularize chemistry as a science among preschool and school children. This was further enriched by speeches by two famous scientists – our patron Ignacy Lukasiewicz and two-time Nobel Prize winner Maria Skłodowska-Curie.

Basic information
Duration of the workshop: 90 minutes (25 minutes room preparation + 45 minutes workshop + 20 minutes cleanup work).
Hosted by: 2 qualified educator-publicists from the Lukasiewicz Research Network -Institute for Renewable Resources Chemistry.
Form of payment: Advance payment of PLN 350 payable 14 days before the event. The remaining balance of PLN 500 payable on the basis of a VAT invoice – payment term 14 days from the date of the invoice. Payment of the advance is equivalent to the reservation of the date of the workshop. The advance payment is not refundable if the workshop does not take place due to the fault of the ordering party.
Total cost of the workshop: PLN 850 gross ( + any additional travel costs outside Kędzierzyn-Koźle, travel within the city free of charge).
Workshop offerings
Variant I - Cosmetic manufactory: creams and bath balls
Need a natural cream for daily facial skin care? You have the opportunity to make, package and take home a proprietary moisturizer with a fragrance of your choice. Under the guidance of our scientists, you will homogenize the water and oil phases to make a velvety, natural, hand-created cosmetic just for you.
Or maybe you want to make your own bath ball, which you can make your bath more pleasant or give to a loved one? At our workshop you can create it! You will decide on the form, fragrance, color and choose the additives yourself, so you can create a real one-of-a-kind, and at the same time learn about the science behind the effervescent balls.
In the room, which will become a Cosmetic Manufactory especially for the occasion, it is important to maintain perfect cleanliness and follow the rules discussed by the presenter. Everyone before entering the manufactory will put on: apron, cap, mask and disposable gloves, so that cosmetics are clean and safe for later use.
Variant II - Detective Riddles
Discover the mysterious world of fluorescence with our detective workshops dedicated to children of all ages! Experience an adventure where, as a detective, you will experiment with various fluorescent substances, discover their properties and solve puzzles in the form of interactive games that allow you to understand the scientific basis of this phenomenon.
Our interactive classes will introduce young explorers to the world of colorful chemical phenomena, teaching them how ordinary everyday objects reveal their mysterious properties when exposed to UV light.
Our fluorescence investigation not only develops scientific curiosity, but also inspires children to explore the magical world of chemistry in a friendly, fun and age-appropriate way. In 45 minutes, science will become an exciting journey, and every child can become a little explorer of the extraordinary mysteries of fluorescence!
Variant III - Land of Ice
Participants will have a chance to learn the story of two Polish scientists, Zygmunt Wróblewski and Karol Olszewski, who in 1883 became the first in history to liquefy air, which was not an easy task.
Air consists of nitrogen boiling at -195.8 °C, oxygen boiling at -183 °C and argon boiling at -185.8 °C, obtaining these components in liquid form after our workshop will no longer be a mystery. Storing liquids at such low temperatures requires the use of Dewar vessels, and what are they? You will also be able to learn about this during our workshop.
There is another component in the air that we ourselves are producers of, namely carbon dioxide. CO2 at atmospheric pressure does not exist as a liquid at any temperature, and below -98.9 °C it exists as a solid sublimating when heated.
What is sublimation and why do we call solid carbon dioxide dry ice? To find out, invite us in and we’ll tell you all about it.
At the workshop, participants will meet liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen and dry ice. They will learn the concepts of phase transformations, states of matter, subcooled liquid and absolute zero. They will be introduced to techniques for obtaining liquid air and working with low-temperature substances.
Variant IV - Colorful Experiences
We welcome you to an extraordinary, fabulous, colorful land. Our land is created with the youngest chemists in mind. We will take you on a colorful journey to a magical garden that will grow from the chemical seeds and seedlings we plant. Above this colorful garden we will create a beautiful candy rainbow, and in its underground we will dig and initiate the work of a magical oil well. We will complete the whole thing with amazing paintings, hand-painted on milk canvases, and in the process we will learn the secrets of how soap works.
Variant V - SLIMS, FLUBBERS and other bits and bobs.
Ready to get a little dirty? Sensory experiences are already waiting for you. Let’s make together overflowing ‘glutes’ or ‘ectoplasm’ straight from the movie ‘Ghostbusters’? Or maybe we will also check whether eggs can jump and whether walking on liquid is really possible?
At the end, we ourselves will produce something that all children love – our own colorful jellybeans and in the shape of snakes. However, you will not eat them because we are in the laboratory, and here there are special rules that every little explorer must know 🙂
Variant VI - Chemical demonstration
Children do not participate directly in the experiments (no limit on participants, the show is conducted outside) – 30 minutes.
Are you ready for the big boom?
You have a unique opportunity to organize an impressive chemical show full of special effects, smoke, explosions and sparks. The show itself lasts 30 minutes and is based on the author’s concept of dialogue with the audience. Scientists perform a number of interesting, spectacular experiments such as paste for an elephant , atomic revenge, chemical locomotives, Pharaoh’s snakes or aaale fire!
“WOW” effect guaranteed!
