Project value: 3 816 093,69 zł
EU contribution: 2 851 024,32 zł
Duration: 01.12.2019 – 31.12.2023
This project is carried out within consortium with following members:
Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Biopolymers and Chemical Fibers – Leader
Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia”
Project aim:
The aim of the project is to elaborate at least one recipe and processing conditions for new, biodegradable, stable, homogeneous granules of plasticized chitosan and/or composite with chitosan addition to introduce on the Polish market. Producing unique derivatives of natural polymer which can be processed with methods used for thermoplastics will allow to increase industrial application range of such polymers.
The elaborated product after thermoplastic processing will be characterized by significantly broader/ different usefulness in comparison to the product currently obtained through wet method. It will be achieved via use of the unique natural raw-materials based modifiers for polymer plasticization. Such modifiers will be designed and synthesized from available components, especially from renewable sources. Optimal chemical structure of biomodifiers will be established, allowing to obtain chitosan-based material with good processing and performance properties. Parameters for processing chitosan-based materials determined in laboratory conditions will be verified and optimized – first on extended laboratory scale, and after that on small production scale, using the pilot line designed within the project and dedicated to that task. Basing on literature research, patent bases research and analysis of competitive environment it was determined that there are no solutions with new product attributes. The target groups for this product will be medical dressings (occlusive, medium hemorrhagic wounds, bedsores wounds, entry- and exit wounds, chest open wounds) producers.
