Synthesis of liquid epoxy resins modifiers based on elementary chemical raw-materials

Synthesis of liquid epoxy resins modifiers based on elementary chemical raw-materials

Project realized within Applied Research Programme

Project aim:

The subject of the project was the elaboration of a low viscosity epoxy resins technology, where resin is obtained from bisphenol F. The resins are used for the classic resins based on bisphenol A properties modification.

The scope of the project contains technologies to obtain bisphenol F and epoxy resins based on the reaction of bisphenol F condensation with epichlorohydrin. The initial raw-materials for the synthesis of the classic epoxy resins modifiers are phenol, formaldehyde and epichlorohydrin.

The substance of the project was the elaboration of integrated process to obtain epoxy resins modifiers, characterized by the possibility of the bisphenol F parameters and utilization properties of resins based on bisphenol F adjustment. The goal of this activity was to adjust the modifier properties to the demands of the clients processing the classic epoxy resins.

The project was realized within the scientific consortium, consisting of: Instytut Ciężkiej Syntezy Organicznej “Blachownia” (Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia”) and Zakłady Chemiczne „Organika-Sarzyna” S.A. in Nowa Sarzyna (Ciech Chemical Group, “Organika-Sarzyna” S.A. Chemical Works), co-financed by the Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju (The National Centre for Research and Development).
